Mary McDonnell
Mary Eileen McDonnell was born April 28, 1952. She is an American stage as well as film and television actress. She was nominated for the Academy Award for her roles in Dances with Wolves as Stands With A Finger and Passion Fish as May-Alice Culhane. McDonnell is well-known for her performances as President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica as well as First Lady Marilyn Whitmore in Independence Day as well as Rose in Donnie Darko. McDonnell was a character in Captain Sharon Raydor on seasons 5-7 of TNT's television series The Closer. She also was a part of Major Crimes, the spin-off series that airs on TNT's network, as Commander Sharon Raydor.
